CLAWS Conservancy
Founder and Director
Andrew Stein is the Founder and Director of CLAWS Conservancy, a US based non-profit focused on promoting human-wildlife coexistence. He has been running a field program called Pride in Our Prides, to address lion poisoning along the northern edge of the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Since 2014, Stein and his team have developed an automated alerts system for warning villagers about lion presence and formed the first communal livestock herd for restoring rangelands and protecting cattle from lion depredation. Over the years, poisoning has been reduced and conflict has been reduced as a result of these efforts. Dr. Stein has also worked on leopards, African wild dogs, brown hyenas as part of his research in Africa since 2001.
